Thank you for choosing K.I.Services, Inc. as your behavioral health care provider. We are committed to working with you to make your treatment successful. Part of your commitment to that success is the prompt payment of your bill. Please read and sign the following statement, indicating your understanding of our payment policy. We are committed to being honest and upfront regarding therapy costs.

PAYMENT POLICY:  We do not accept any health insurance plans. Presently, we take the following payment methods, cash and via Zelle.   Payment for all sessions is due at the time of service before starting your session and your initial assessment.

REGARDING TELEPHONE CONSULTATION: You may be charged for telephone consultations with you, your attorney, or any other party regarding you. These charges are based on time and equal to your usual fee for in-person psychotherapy.

REGARDING REPORT WRITING: You may be charged for preparing reports or letters which may be required at any time during your psychotherapy process. These charges are based on time and equal to my usual fee for in-person psychotherapy.

Please note that you must cancel the scheduled session at least 24 hours in advance. Otherwise, you will be charged the full session fee.

We do offer limited sliding scale sessions based on income and need. These slots are currently full. Your Community Services Board is an excellent resource if you need low-cost therapy services.

LATE CANCELLATION/MISSED SESSION POLICY

A canceled appointment hurts three people: you, your therapist, and another client who could have potentially used your time slot. Therapy sessions are scheduled in advance and are a time reserved exclusively for our clients. Therefore, when a session is canceled without adequate notice, we cannot fill this time slot by offering it to another current client, a client on the waitlist, or a client with a clinical emergency.

Without a cancellation fee policy in place, your therapist will lose money or the opportunity to schedule another client if you cancel late or do not show up.

Our cancellation policy is this: Clients can cancel or reschedule an appointment anytime if they provide 24 hours’ notice. If you cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice or fail to show up, you will be charged the entire session fee for the appointment. Therefore, our cancellation policy is 24 hours, and we are firm at 24 hours.

Our cancellation policy is not a penalty or a punishment. Most clients understand this. Very rarely will a client feel they are being punished when charged a late cancellation fee. However, we want to ensure that you don’t feel this way if you miss an appointment someday.

If you are in counseling long enough, you might forget about an appointment, or something will come up in your schedule that will result in you missing an appointment. Maybe you’ll need to work late. Perhaps you’ll get a sudden onset of the flu. Maybe your kids will have doctor appointments, your car will break down, or something unavoidable.

We are not upset with clients when they miss an appointment. We know that’s life. However, our clients understand that scheduling an appointment with one of us is like buying tickets to an event. If you miss the event, it doesn’t matter why you missed it, or even if it was your first time, you can’t turn in your tickets for a refund.

A full session fee is charged when you miss or cancel an appointment without giving 24 hours of advanced notice. For example, suppose an appointment is scheduled for 3:00 pm on a Tuesday. In that case, notice must be provided by 3:00 pm on Monday. *For Saturday or appointment, 48-hours’ notice is required.

You can cancel your appointment by calling, texting, emailing your specific therapist, or calling the office. For example, suppose you are more than 15 minutes late to your appointment time without contacting your therapist. In that case, it will be a late cancellation.

The only time we will waive this fee is in the event of severe or contagious illness or extreme weather, or other unavoidable circumstances. If you are unsure, please contact your therapist.

Please understand that therapy should be viewed as any other crucial medical appointment would be considered. This cancellation policy is vital for our counseling practice because while a medical doctor can see 35 patients in a day, a therapist generally finds a maximum of 6 to 8 clients a day. We reserve a full hour of our time for the session and clinical notes. If a client cancels with less than a full 24-hour notice, it is unlikely that we will be able to fill that time slot, and we lose an entire hour from our work schedule. While it is a time commitment, this is for your personal growth, and consistency is critical to achieving this.

Suppose you are a weekly client and miss three scheduled appointments within three months. Then, we may terminate the therapeutic relationship and offer appropriate referrals to other practices.

Suppose you are a bi-weekly client and miss two scheduled appointments in two months. In that case, we may terminate the therapeutic relationship and offer appropriate referrals to other practices.

Therapy is a professional commitment for the client and the therapist. Clients who are unsure if they can commit to therapy appointments should seek services elsewhere.
